Plan Your Funding Roadmap: Building Your Grant-Seeking Tool-Kit

Plan Your Funding Roadmap: Building Your Grant-Seeking Tool-Kit

During this two-day (May 23-24, 2024) in-person workshop to be held at King University in Bristol, TN, ACA members are invited to join Natalie Sweet to build a grant-seeking tool kit while simultaneously developing a funding idea.

Participants will learn how to creatively convey need, smartly develop a budget and narrative, and consistently seek peer review during the grant development process. Attend with either the germ of an idea or a draft in progress – projects in all phases of development will benefit from the workshop.

Grant funds are available to support travel expenses for STEM faculty who are defined, by NSF, as those in mathematics, the physical sciences, engineering, psychology, and the social sciences (Congressional Research Service, 2018).

Funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) ADVANCE Program, Award #2304868 aims to address the significant challenge of hiring and retaining women and underrepresented minorities in STEM faculty positions, particularly at small rural institutions in the Appalachian region. As a non-profit consortium of 33 private four-year liberal arts institutions, the Appalachian College Association (ACA) serves Appalachian communities through the transformational work of its faculty, staff, and students. The National Science Foundation’s ADVANCE program is aimed at increasing the participation and advancement of women in academic science and engineering careers, thereby developing a more diverse science and engineering workforce.
