CTL Webinar - Using Andragogical Concepts to Meet the Needs of Students in the Ever-Evolving Online Learning Environment
Using Andragogical Concepts to Meet the Needs of Students in the Ever-Evolving Online Learning Environment
Brittany Bryant, Assistant Professor of English, Kentucky Christian University
This discussion will explore andragogical approaches to teaching college courses. These methods focus on adult learners by emphasizing self-directed, problem-based learning that draws on students’ life experiences. Instruction is hands-on and participatory, with faculty acting as facilitators rather than simply delivering content. Participants will join a facilitated discussion on such components as course construction, instructional methods, class structure, and assignment design to promote undergraduate student engagement and achievement. Special attention will be given to how andragogical methods can help instructors meet the needs of students in the online learning environment. The recommended audience is any faculty member or instructional designer who instructs undergraduate students.
